Harassment Training

Harassment Training Library for employee harassment issues. Comprehensive continuing education training library to support corporate and mission critical compliance initiatives in areas like corporate fraud, anti-bribery, cyber-security, ethics, confidentiality, and numerous others. This comprehensive training library helps the company meet its legal and ethical obligations.

Harassment has become a major problem for companies in the US, the UK, Australia and other international countries. To date, there are no legal or ethical guidelines governing employee conduct in the work place. Harassment is a clear indication of discrimination of any kind, irrespective of gender, race, age or other relevant criteria. Traditional training courses on harassment issues are not practical because they are time consuming, costly and cumbersome. Online training courses are cost-effective and easy to manage.

Companies must ensure that they are providing an inclusive workplace environment for employees. They need comprehensive employee protection against harassment, which includes sexual harassment, verbal abuse, physical assault, humiliation, bullying and other related acts. An effective harassment prevention training program empowers employees to take control and report inappropriate behavior. It also makes it easier for employers to identify and deal with problems of sexual harassment in the workplace.

The first step for companies is to ensure that they have an Anti-Discrimination policy that outlines the acceptable behavior of employees. For instance, according to common types of sexual harassment, the definition states that behavior that arouse a reasonable person's annoyance, alarm, humiliation, annoyance, discomfort, insult, or other serious emotional reaction, whether causing physical harm or non-physical harm, is unacceptable. A second type of sexual harassment involves propositions, conduct that is obscene or offensive, and other official actions that are taken in disregard of an employee's consent. A third common type of harassment training requires employers to provide guidelines and rules about appropriate workplace behavior and proper sexual conduct.

Employers should provide their employees with methods for reporting any instances of workplace harassment. The most common way to do this is by posting a sign such as "No Harassment - Do Not Contact This Person." This sign should be prominently located on the property. Another method for reporting harassment is for an employee to immediately report it to the supervisor or the company's human resources department. It is also necessary to train employees in how to react if they encounter a situation of in-person harassment or sexual harassment in the workplace.

For employees who feel that they are subject to discrimination based on their gender, age, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or some other attribute, an online sexual harassment training could be very beneficial. Some companies offer training over the Internet that provides basic information about discrimination. In this training, employees learn about the legal aspects of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other federal laws. Employees will also learn about the dynamics of sexual harassment, what constitutes harassment, how to remain calm when subject to harassment, how to report the conduct to management, and more. Online training can be very helpful for many employees, especially those who are new to a particular industry or business.

There are several ways for employers to make sure that they comply with the guidelines and requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. First, all businesses must provide access to a written policy that details the types of situations that would require immediate staff training. Second, all employers must provide training that instructs managers and supervisors about the specific elements of the federal employment discrimination laws. Third, all employees must be instructed about the repercussions of reporting sexual harassment or other types of discrimination. Fourth, all employees must be instructed about the rights to privacy, to work in peace, and to be surrounded by equal protection of law. Lastly, all employees must be trained about the availability of an equal opportunity policy and other assistance for victims of sexual harassment or other forms of discrimination.

Harassment on the job is a real problem. In order to avoid having problems with harassment on the job, employees must understand and follow the guidelines and instructions that their supervisor has given them. Employees who are unsure about how their supervisor is going to handle certain situations should ask their supervisor for input before making any decisions. New York State Attorneys General, including the Manhattan and Bronx District Attorneys, is always available for consultation to assist attorneys in resolving workplace harassment cases.
